Edible Archaeology

Prestongrange Museum

1pm to 4pm

Workshops and activities  £1 per person

Dig in! Paul Hollywood would find it hard to find our archaeological day ‘too dry’ with our tasty layered cake providing fantastic visuals (and edibles) for teaching your young ‘uns all there is to know about a real excavation! This fun-filled family day out is packed with exciting activities that explore just what our ancestors were up to – whether hunting for food, preparing meals in the kitchen – or even on the toilet! Everyone is welcome to have a go at making their own clay drinking vessel, styling a foraging hat out of recycled materials or learning ancient techniques for making some bread Mr Hollywood would be proud of. We’re also asking for some intrepid explorers to join us in an adventure through the woodlands to learn about nature’s food, medicine and mythology. Ready, steady, DIG!

This event is part of Festival of Museums and DigIt!2015. For more of our events Festival of Museums weekend see:
